St. Jude, pray for us!
The statue of St. Jude in our sanctuary was given to us by my dear friend, Rev. Jacek Mazur, the pastor of the newly formed (from five parishes) Divine Mercy Church" in Niagara Falls, New York.

The statue stood proudly in the former St. Stanislaus Church for many year before making its pilgrimage south to us in North Tonawanda. St. Jude Thaddeus was not only an apostle, an "eye witness," and close follower of Jesus Christ, but he is thought to be a relative of Jesus himself!

Some believers say this is why he commonly is depicted holding an image of the face of Christ. You will note that this particular statue does not depict the saint as he often is with a Pentecostal "flame of the Holy Spirit" over his head!

He does, however have the club in his hand which is thought to be the instrument of his torture and martyrdom. He also is depicted with an ax since it is thought that he was beheaded afterward We will be having more information about our new patron saint in future bulletins In the meantime, we welcome St. Jude and ask for his prayers for us.
